hi! I followed the quick start and now trying to connect with the python client to my local (dockerized) spicedb. It looks like the Client is assuming the server has both authentication (which I think is fine) and TLS (which is not) https://github.com/authzed/authzed-py/blob/main/authzed/api/v1/__init__.py#L50 If I try to change to insecure_channel, I cannot provide the bearer token anymore

hi, is that expected that consistent reads require zedtoken even with in-memory DB? When I write permissions, it takes a few seconds for checks to actually "see" the change

Yes, the in-memory db behaves very similarly to the Postgres driver, where snapshots are used to compute requests. As a quick fix you have make your requests with consistency level of “full consistency”

Does this also apply even if there is only one node/instance?

Yes, but it does NOT mean that anything about spicedb is eventually consistent or convergent. It is fully consistent, and gives you a mechanism to relax consistency for performance and scalability.

hey everyone, I'm trying to get a local spicedb instance up for some testing purposes and developing some prototype apis in golang but I actually don't have experience in making gRPC calls and was hoping to establish the communication using HTTP apis but I can't seem to find the documentation for enabling HTTP communication in spicedb. It would be great if someone could point me in the right direction

once you have local spicedb up , you could use one of the preferred client libs to that effect.

All you need to do is pass the

--http-enabled

flag when you start spicedb

although as @User points out, using gRPC with one of the existing clients is the preferred method, as that leverages HTTP/2 pipelining and long lived connections

I can see that there's a client library for golang, I will try and use that in this case

our whole backend is written in golang, so it's definitely one of the flagship clients

does the schema language have an open source definition usable in text editors?

not an official one, but we do have one for prism
